Ever woke up and thought “I don’t feel like working today.”

We all have right? Well that happened to me one morning in mid February; I just was not “feeling it”. So I took the day off and watched some K-Drama (yes, a guilty pleasure of mine!) But that feeling lasted 6 weeks (that’s a lot of K-Dramas). And it wasn’t just a “eh I’m not feeling it today,” it was more like a full bellied revulsion of “I JUST CAN’T DO IT ANYMORE!”

So I stopped.

Just stepped back, didn’t post on social media, didn’t market my biz, checked my emails and kept the absolute bare minimum running. I even started applying for remote jobs - 17 of them in fact! 😲Because I didn’t want to do it anymore. Shocking eh?!

But is it? Does that mean I failed at my business?

What if getting a part-time job is smart? What if it is just another income stream, instead of a failed business? Maybe it’s time to stop letting strangers on the interwebs define success for us, and define it for ourselves. I want to base my definition of success on my values + beliefs, my family, and lifestyle.

I have started to feel excited about my business again, all the creative juices are flowing, and ideas are buzzing around. So I’m happy I didn’t close it up. But it felt REALLY good to take a break. And if I am successful at getting one of those part-time jobs I applied for, that would be a great additional stream of income.

If you’re struggling with your business right now, you’re not failing. It’s rough! I would just encourage you to take a minute, really figure out what your definition of success is, not compared to someone else, but yours.
